Privacy Policy

RateUp is a university study and professor-rating service for students using an eligible university email address. This policy explains the information processed when you use the app.

Information we collect

• Account and contact information: name, university email address, student identifier, college, major, and verification status.
• Academic and user content: completed courses, grades, plans, saved professors, reviews, replies, AI conversations, and study-library files you choose to upload.
• Purchases: subscription status and product entitlement supplied by Apple and RevenueCat. RateUp does not receive your full payment-card number.
• Device and notification information: app-generated user and device identifiers, device type/name, push token, notification delivery state, language, and operating-system information.
• Operational data: essential session cookies, request and error logs, and security/rate-limit information needed to operate and protect the service. RateUp does not include an advertising or cross-app tracking SDK.

How information is used

We use information to authenticate users, enforce device limits, provide study planning and professor discussions, operate private file storage and AI features, manage subscriptions, deliver requested emails and notifications, provide support, prevent abuse, and maintain service reliability.

Service providers and AI

Information is shared only as needed with service providers that operate RateUp: hosting, PostgreSQL and object storage, Resend for transactional email, Expo/Apple for push notifications, RevenueCat and Apple for subscriptions, and OpenAI for requested AI and document-processing features. AI prompts may include relevant profile, course, review, conversation, and selected private-library content so the requested response can be produced. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.

Retention, security, and your choices

We retain account data while your account is active and as needed for security, legal, and operational obligations. Private files and associated account records are scheduled for removal when the account is deleted, subject to short-lived backups and legally required retention. We use access controls, encrypted network transport, password hashing, and private object access controls. No service can guarantee absolute security.

You may update available profile information in the app, control notification permission in device settings, and delete your account from Profile → Privacy → Delete Account. See the account-deletion page for another request method.
